Misdiagnosis
There is an increased risk of misdiagnosis and maltreatment when language barriers exist between the patient and the healthcare personnel.

Lack of or incorrect communication itself can lead to complications for the patient.
Prolonged hospital stay
Patients with limited language proficiency usually stay longer in the emergency room (approximately 30 minutes) and stay 4 days longer in hospitals than the average patient.
Increased readmissions
Patients with limited language proficiency have 60% higher inclination to seek emergency care than the average patient. They are at 50% higher risk of being hospitalized and 20% more likely to seek care within 72 hours after discharge.
Increased costs
All of the above increase costs for healthcare providers. In addition, healthcare professionals are likely to take more samples and do more research on patients who do not master the language.
ABOUT US
The goal is to make healthcare better for all: Care to Translate, earlier ‘Språk i vården’, was founded as a non-profit in the fall of 2015 by medical students from Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, and today it has become one of the most used translation tools in the Swedish healthcare sector.
However, the issue that ‘Språk i vården’ was addressing affects people all over the world, and to be able to work on it with full devotion, the company Care to translate AB was formed in 2018. The Company has received grants for the Swedish innovation authority Vinnova and been accepted to Sweden’s number one incubator Sting Accelerate.

You will be charged for the regular price of your subscription within 24 hours prior to the end of the current term. You can turn off automatic renewal in your iTunes account settings at any time, but you must do so at least 24 hours before the end of the current term. Refunds will not be provided for the unused portion of any term.
